In the short Story The Earth on Turtles back, it talks about a situation of determination and partly about wanting something. The ancient chief's young wife, wanted a special tree, she accidentally fell in a big hole, done by the chief uprooting the special tree. In that hole there were birds and animals and they thought she fell from the sky. They knew she was different from them and also knew that there was earth below the water and thought they were able to bring it up. So they did as they thought every animal took turns to go down, surpassing the animal from before, but nobody was able to reach the earth. Then, a muskrat spoke and said, "I will bring up earth or die trying', she was determined to get to a point but it didn't necessarily benefit her but she was willing to help out even if her life depended on it.
